Nawalpur Access Performs Street Drama for Awareness

Access students from Nawalpur Access Center performed a street drama on July 16, 2019, at Godar hatbazar of Kawasoti Municipality-15.The subject matter of the drama was misuse of mobile phone, child marriage and its consequence. Nawalpur Access had performed this drama during Access camp, students translated the dialogues to Nepali and practiced the drama at Access Center a couple times before performing it publicly as street drama. On the day of the street drama performance, all students and teachers gathered at the Center at first, students made placards with slogans against social evils, drama performers changed costume based on their role and all marched toward Godar Hatbazar. As students were getting ready to perform drama, a crowd a people gathered, the ward chairperson Mr. Dev Narayan Mahato was also amongst the audience. Students performed the drama beautifully. At the end, Mr. Mahato spoke warmly about the Access students’ performance and their effort in spreading public awareness. Local people also thanked the students for their efforts. At last group photos were taken and all left for their homes.

International Women’s Day Celebration in Nawalpur Access

Access Nawalpur celebrated ‘International Women’s Day’ on March 8, 2019 at Nawalpur Access center conducting a speech competition in the presence of focal person Mr. Tirtha Raj Kandel. All together 18 students took part in the program putting forth their views on issues related to women. At the end, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions holders were awarded.

Reader’s Club Formed in Nawalpur Access

Access Nawalpur formed a Reader’s Club in Access Center Nawalpur on January 26, 2019. The program was conducted by the Access teachers with the involvement of both groups. At first, students were introduced about Readers’ club activities with PowerPoint presentation by Access instructor Arjun Jung Rayamajhi and then 10 students from each group were selected for the first Readers’ club. Then the following members were selected for the first book review program.

The club decided to review ‘Accessing English through Stories’ for the first book review as it would motivate Access students to read the creations from Access Alumni. The club also decided to conduct the Reader’s Club Activity on February 23, 2019. The guest of the program will be Access instructor Nanda Prasad Mahato.

Nawalpur Access in Community Service

Access students from Nawalpur Access Center did sanitation program at center premises on December 25, 2018 at Nawalpur Access center. Students cleaned the surrounding and collected solid waste and managed properly by categorizing into biodegradable and non-biodegradable.

 

Nawalpur Access Inauguration

On December 12, 2018 English Access Microsholarship Program was formally inaugurated at Janata Sec. School, Nawalpur. The chief guest of the program Mayor of Kawasoti Municipality Ms. Chandra Kumari Pun formally inaugurated the program along with RELO Program Specialist Mr. Bishwa Raj Gautam, from US Embassy, Krishna Chandra Pokhrel – EDCU, special guest Nawaraj Neupane – NELTA centre, Kunjarmani Gautam – Access Coordinator, Keshav Kandel – NELTA Gandaki, Bhim Kandel – PABSON secretary, head teachers and SMC chairs from different schools were present in the program. NELTA Nawalpur Asst. Sec. Mr. Shiv Koirala hosted the program. In the program, welcome speech was given by NELTA Nawalpur Chair, Mr. Tirtha Kandel and vote of thanks was given by SMC Chair, Mr. Patiram Thanet. There were also brief speeches by chief guest Ms. Chandra Kumari Pun and special guest Mr. Bishwa Raj Gautam, RELO Program Specialist US Embassy, Krishna Chandra Pokhrel – EDCU, Nawaraj Neupane – NELTA centre, Kunjarmani Gautam – Access coordinator. At the end of the program the Access students and the instructors were awarded with Access commencement certificates signed by the US Ambassador to Nepal Randy W. Berry.

There were guardians, teachers, students, NELTA colleagues and SMC members in the mega Ceremony. Access student Sita Sunar delivered a speech on behalf of all Access students sharing her happiness in being selected as an Access student and her hopes for achievements through Access.
