Nuwakot Access Visits Debighat Senior Citizen’s Home

On July 27, 2019, Nuwakot Access students and teachers visited senior citizen protection and study foundation in Debighat, Nuwakot and did cleaning and distributed fruits to the senior citizens there. In the beginning of the program, Nuwakot Access instructors Birbal Lama and Srijana Dahal did a short briefing about the objective of the visit. Then, the manager of the foundation Mr. Ram Prasad Dahal gave a short speech about the management of the foundation and some information about the registration process of senior citizen at the center. After that, the students interacted with the senior citizens and distributed fruits to all. Then, students were divided into groups to clean the inside and surroundings of the building. Finally a group photo was taken and all bid farewell.

Nuwakot Access Inauguration Program

Nuwakot Access Center was inaugurated on March 28, 2019 at Trishuli, Nuwakot. The chief guest of the program was Mayor of Bidur Municipality Mr. Sanju Pandit. The other guests in the program were Nuwakot District Education Head Mr. Madan Kumar Dahal, RELO Program Specialist from US Embassy Kathmandu Mr. Bishwa Raj Gautam, Access program coordinator Mr. Kunjarmani Gautam, head teachers of the feeder schools, Nuwakot NELTA executive committee members, Access teachers, students and their guardians. In his remarks, the chief guest Mr. Sanju Pandit spoke about the increasing importance of English language nowadays and expressed his commitment to support the continuity of the program in the coming days from local level.

Holi Celebration in Access

Access Centers celebrated Holi learning about the cultural and mythological significance of Holi festival and enjoying the festival of colors by putting colors on each other.

Nuwakot Access Celebrates Lhosar with Dance Competition

Nuwakot Access Center conducted ‘Dance Competition’ on February 23, 2019 on the occasion of ‘Lhosar’ at Access Center Nuwakot. Eleven Access students participated in the competition while all students and teachers enjoyed the joyful performances. It was group dance competition and there were altogether three groups dancing on folk tunes. The students had prepared the dance themselves. The first team was ‘Anjana and the group’, the second team was ‘Kashish and the group and the third team was Pukar and the group. All participants and other students were happy to be a part of it and boost the team spirit.

Nuwakot Access Forms Reader’s Club

Nuwakot Access formed its first Readers’ Club on February 9, 2019 from an assembly of all the Access students with the presence of four Access teachers. In a short informal program, Access teacher Jivan Dahal clarified about the Readers’ Club, its formation and its future actions. Access teacher Srijana Dahal discussed the importance of reading extra-curricular books. Then, the students were requested to raise their hands if they want to become members of Readers’ Club. Twenty members were selected though many more were interested to join the club.  Access teacher Asmita Waiba congratulated the club members and notified the rules and code of conduct for running the club’s meeting and programs. The assembly concluded with assigning different roles like moderator, presenters etc to the members for their first Reader’s club program.

New Year Celebration in Access

Access students from Nuwakot Access Center celebrated ‘New Year – 2019′ on January 5, 2019 at Nuwakot Access center. On that occasion, reading activities were conducted that revolved around  New Year’s Eve and New Year’s celebration in US. They read a text in groups and presented their understanding on New Year celebration. After that students made New Year’s resolutions and shared with each other in the class and pasted on the wall for reminder. At the end, students played different games and enjoyed a lot.

“Nepali New Year 2076 celebration” was done in Access Nuwakot on April 13, 2019 as an enhancement activity. All students and teachers were present on the occasion. The students made greeting cards and exchanged with their friends. They played games and made posters about New Year, they also decorated it and pasted it on their classroom wall. Access Instructor Jivan Dahal, and Srijana Dahal briefed students on how people of different religious and cultural backgrounds celebrate New Year and asked students to share how they celebrate the New Year. Access Instructors Asmita Waiba and Birbal Lama entertained the students with fun filled games “US-UK” and “Jumping Ball”. After that, a group photo was taken.  Finally the students and teachers had a mini feast at Access center.

Nuwakot Accesss in Community Service

Access Nuwakot organized Trishuli Bazaar Sanitation program on December 29, 2018. The program led by NELTA Nuwakot Executives started at 1:30 in the afternoon with all Access students and four teachers’ participation. The students held a banner along with placards and marchiiing their way from Access center to Trishuli Bazaar creating awareness about clean environment. Students all geared up with masks, gloves, brooms, dust bins marched in the bazaar area collecting waste and talking to locals on keeping the bazaar area clean. The program ran for three hours. At the end, students gathered at an open ground, shared their experience and had snack.
