Kailali Access Graduation

Kailali Access graduation ceremony was held on July 30, 2019 at Shubham Awas Griha, Dhangadhi.

Before the formal graduation ceremony, all the guests visited the stalls set up by the students and asked them various questions regarding their stalls and presentations. Students talked confidently about their Access experiences in front of the guests.

After observing the student’s exhibition of Access achievements, the graduation program was held. Mr. Laxman Datt Bhatta, Chair, NELTA Kailali was the chair for the program. Similarly, Sushila Bhatta, Deputy Mayor of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City was the chief guest for the program. Mr. Kunjarmani Gautam, Access Coordinator and Mr. Bishwa Raj Gautam, RELO Representative were the special guests for the program. Moreover, Mr. Yagya Raj Pandey and Mrs. Sunita Swar Suri (Past Chairs, NELTA Kailali), Sitaram Bhatta (Assistant Principal, Rastriya Tulsiram Secondary School) and Arjun Rajbar (Representative, NELTA Provincial Committee) were the guests for the program. The ceremony was hosted by Dharmadev Nauniyal, Secretary, NELTA Kailali. In the program, Ms. Sushila Bhatta, Deputy Mayor, Dhangadhi Sub Metropolitan City and Mr. Bishwa Raj Gautam, RELO Program Specialist delivered remarks. In her remarks, Deputy Mayor praised the students for their confidence, presentations and achievements and promised to support such further programs by RELO and US Embassy in Dhangadhi.

At the end for the program, both the students and Instructors received their Access graduation certificates signed by the US Ambassador to Nepal Randy W. Berry. The program with some group snaps and light refreshments.

New Year 2076 Celebrations in Access

Kailali Access celebrated Nepali New Year 2076 on April 13, 2019 organizing a potluck lunch party at Kailali Access Center. All students and teachers brought a homemade cultural dish and was placed on display with the name of the dish and its main ingredient. Students tasted each other’s dishes and learnt about cultural aspects related to those dishes.

Kailali Access Visits Aircraft Museum

Kailali Access students and teachers visited Nepal’s first Aircraft Museum located at Dhangadhi, Kailali on February 23, 2019. After exploring the Museum premises, students entered the aircraft with a boarding pass in hand; all students were excited to board an airplane as it was their first time. Inside the aircraft, at first students watched a documentary about tourism and aircraft sector in Nepal, then all explored the amazing display of photos and models of variety of aircraft. Later, all students made memories dressing up as pilots and air hostess. It was a memorable visit for all students and teachers.

Kailali Access in Community Service

On January 12, 2019, all students of Kailali Access Center, Dhangadhi participated in the Cleanliness Campaign along with their 4 instructors. For this campaign, students cleaned the entire inner and outer premise of Naina Devi Temple, Dhangadhi. They planned for this campaign the entire week and on Saturday morning they all gathered at the premise of Naina Devi Temple. At first, they asked for the permission from the main priest of the temple and then after posing for some photographs with the banner, they started the cleanliness program. Students cleaned the road along the temple premise and then cleaned and swept the premise of Yoga Bhawan. They also cleaned the worshiping area of the temple and the premise of main temple. They also informed locals and worshipers around the temple about their community service project and about Access program and requested all to keep the area clean.

Kailali Access Visits Kailali Multiple Campus

On January 11, 2019 students of both A and B groups of Kailali Access Center, Dhangadhi visited Kailali Multiple Campus along with their all 4 instructors. All 40 students were present for the campus visit. For this visit, instructors had already taken consent from Campus Chief of Kailali Multiple Campus Dr. Padam Raj Joshi. Student observed all the infrastructure, management and building of KMC. They also visited library of KMC. Library in-charge himself described about the management of books, provision of taking books from the library. In the same library hall, Campus Chief Mr. Padam Raj Joshi gave brief account of Kailali Multiple Campus. According to him, KMC is the oldest campus of province 7 which was established 38 years ago. He also added that about 10,000 students are studying there in different faculties. Students asked various questions to campus chief about the teaching and learning environment of the campus. At the end of the campus visit, campus chief sponsored tea and snacks to the Access team.

Kailali Reader’s Club Program

On July 28, 2018, Access students of Kailali Access group A, Dhangadhi conducted the second complete session of the Readers’ Club under the chairmanship of Access student, Suman Katuwal. Access Instructor, Ms. Shanti Bhatta, was the chief guest of the program.  All 20 students of Group A participated in the program. The program was organized at Access Center, Dhangadhi.  The session was hosted by Access student, Sristi Singh. The topic for the Reader’s Club Session was ‘Story Telling’.

Access students Kabita B.K. and Sadiksha Joshi were the readers of the day. Both of them recited a story.  Prem Bist and Niraj Chaudhary commented the presentation of the readers. The end remarks were given by the program chair, Suman Katuwal.

Food and Clothes Distribution at an Elderly Home

Students of Kailali Access Center, Group A participated in a community service activity in collaboration with the students of Stepping Stone English School on June 23, 2018. Their theme for the community service was, “Help Senior Citizens.”  Access instructor Suman Shrestha went to ‘Baijnath Virdashram’ which is at Mahendranagar, Suda for initial information on June 16, 2018. There were 12 male and 6 female including caretaker. Students of Stepping stone and Access students collected money from their respective schools.  Students bought 1/1 pair of new clothes for old people from that money and they also bought 1 sack of rice, 10 kg lentils, 10 kg flour, 1 box of biscuits. NELTA Kailali chair Mrs. Sunita Suri helped Kailali Access by providing her school bus for transportation. Kailali Access and students of Stepping stone visited the elderly home. At first, they cooked food for old people. They served the food to them. Later on clothes were distributed to every individual and remaining materials were handed over to the care taker. At last, students entertained all by singing, dancing, reciting poems etc. Some of the old people also joined in Deuda song.

   

Tree Plantation and Awareness Campaign

From 10 June to 15 June, 2018, students of Kailali Access Center, Group B participated in a community service. Their theme for the community service was, “Tree Planting and Awareness Campaign.” They visited 5 schools of Dhangadhi namely Shree Sharada Secondary School, Shree Rastriya Secondary School, Shree Trinagar Secondary School, Shree Panchodaya Secondary School and Shree Dhangadhi Model Technical School and to take awareness class in these schools along with planting trees at those schools. For this, on Saturday and Sunday during their regular classes they prepared the banner, posters and other materials needed for this community service project. Students planned the activity themselves and collected money for buying plants from the nursery by themselves. On Monday, they went to Shree Sharada Secondary School, Baiyabehadi and took an awareness class for tree plantation in class 7A. They also planted trees at the school with other school students and staffs. On Tuesday, they went to Shree Rastriya Secondary School, Behadi and took an awareness class and planted trees there. On Wednesday, they visited Shree Trinagar Secondary School, L.N.Chowk and repeated the same process. The same process was repeated at Shree Panchodaya Secondary School and Shree Dhangadhi Model Technical School on Thursday and Friday respectively. Access students from this community service learnt the skills of managing classes and conducting classes. Similarly, these schools got benefitted as trees were planted at these schools for free. Students at these schools learnt the importance of tree plantation, demerits of deforestation, ways of protecting newly planted trees during rainy season and why tree plantation should be done at school area. Students learnt and enjoyed a lot during this community service project.

Warm Clothes Collection and Distribution

Kailali Access Center conducted community service on January 20, 2018 in collaboration with Rotaract Club of Dhangadhi. The teachers and students of Kailali Access distributed old but wearable clothes in Radha Krishna Muktakamaiya Sibir (Freed Bonded Labour Camp) and Mankapur Sukumbasi Sibir (Landless Camp), Dhangadhi.

As a community service project, Kailali Access decided to collect old clothes from the community and distribute them to the Mukta kamaiya (Freed Bonded Labour) and homeless –landless people living around the city who were suffering from extreme cold.  The students and teachers of the center divided into 4 groups to inform the local people about the project and request them to select their clothes that could be donated on January 13. On January 18, the students collected the clothes from the community. Local people happily donated their clothes and praised the students and the Access Center for initiating such deed.  On January 19, the students checked and categorized the donated clothes. Finally, on Saturday, January 20, the teachers, students accompanied by the members of Rotaract club of Dhangadhi distributed the clothes to the needy people.

Mannu Chaudhary, one of the Freed Kamaiya said, “I am so happy to get warm clothes for me and my family, we won’t be shivering any more in this winter.”

Surya Prakash Chand, an Access student, took the community service as an opportunity to learn leadership skill and felt happy to help the poor people.

  

Kailali Access Inauguration

On December 19, 2017 English Access Microscholarship program was formally inaugurated at Dhangadhi, Kailali. The chief guest of the program RELO Program Specialist Mr. Bishwa Raj Gautam formally inaugurated the program along with Mayor of Dhangadhi Sub Metropolitan City, Nirpa Bahadur Oad and Head of District Coordination Committee, Kailali Surya Thapa and Prof. Dr. Hemraj Pant. NELTA central committee member Aparna Gupta, NELTA Kailali Advisor Yagya Raj Pandey, NELTA Kailali Chair Sunita Swar Suri, Kailali Access focal person Ramji Hamal and English language fellow, Deborah Silver were present in the program. Access Coordinator Kunjarmani Gautam hosted the program. In the program, welcome speech was given by NELTA Kailali Chair, Sunita Swar Suri and vote of thanks was given by focal person of Access Kailali, Ramji Hamal. There were also brief speeches by Chief Guest Bishwa Raj Gautam, RELO Program Specialist and Special Guest Nirpa Bahadur Oad, Mayor, Dhangadhi Sub Metropolitan City. At the end of the program, the Access students and instructors were awarded with Access commencement certificates signed by the US Ambassador to Nepal Alaina B Teplitz.

Access Students Visits US – Nepal Cultural Mela

On December 16, Saturday, students of Access center, Dhangadi visited the US – Nepal Cultural Mela held at playground of Federal Police Unit Office, Dhangadhi, Kailali. Students and teachers were provided with free pass into the Mela by Kailai Chamber of Commerce and Industries. They visited all the seven stalls of various programs related to the U.S Embassy and they also distributed forms for free membership of American Corner there. They enjoyed stage performances by various artists. Most importantly, they created the Access space at the stall of English Access Microscholarship Program at the Mela. They showcased their articles and art works. They also distributed various NELTA Journals to English teachers and students visiting the stall. Access student interacted confidently with officials of US Embassy and other native speakers of English Language and other visitors explaining various aspects of the Access program and their center.

ELF Visit and Thanksgiving Day Celebration

On November 18, Saturday, Deborah Silver, English Language Fellow visited our Dhangadhi Access center. On her visit, she was welcomed by students of Access center with garlands and flowers. She took a special session on history, importance and ways of Thanksgiving celebration. In this session, she made students realize why thanksgiving is celebrated and what the ways of celebrating it are. She showed students a short video about thanksgiving and also taught students to sing a thanksgiving song. She on her visit gifted three maps of USA, world and Nepal to the center. She, along with NELTA Kailali Chair Sunita Swar Suri distributed prizes to first, second and third prize winners of speech contest organized to celebrate International education week. The vote of thanks to her was given by NELTA Kailali Chair, Sunita Swar Suri. At the end, students and teachers took group photographs with her. This was the first visit of Native speaker of English Language at Access Kailali so students and teachers were both glad to interact and learn about American culture and English language.
