Orphanage Visit

Students of Janakpur Access visited an orphanage on March 17, 2018. All four Access teachers, Janakpur Access focal person and Executive committee of NELTA Janakpur joined the Access students on this visit. Students cleaned the orphanage and the surrounding. Students interacted with social worker Mr. Satyanarayan Alok, who is running the orphanage, they listened to his struggles in establishing the orphanage and were amazed to learn how the orphanage is giving shelter, food and education to orphans. At the end of the program, students handed over some materials for the orphanage.

Janakpur Access Paints Zebra Crossing

Access center Janakpur organized a community service ‘Painting of Zebra Crossing’ on August 5, 2017. At first, Janakpur traffic office in charge Mr. Harinandan Chaudhary took one hour orientation class to the students. He talked about traffic rules and regulations. After that, Access students identified suitable area with the help of traffic police and started cleaning. They washed the road and measured the area for ‘Zebra-crossing’. Access Instructors and Traffic police helped them for managing one side traffic. After that students took road marker paint and made zebra crossing as instructed by traffic inspector. Local people supported the activity by helping to control traffic.

 

Janakpur Marks 4th of July with Quiz and Art Competitions

Students from Janakpur Access center celebrated ‘American Independence Day’ on July 4, 2017. Both group A and group B with Access teachers participated in that celebration. At first, Access teacher Mr. Ranjit Kumar Jha shared information about history of American Independence through PowerPoint. He shared about how Independence Day is celebrated in U.S.A and what is the importance of it. After that students enjoyed a short documentary video about history of American Independence. Then, as informed a week ago, a ‘Quiz contest on American and Nepali History’ was organized. Students were divided into four different groups named Rose, Lily, Marigold and Daisy. Four students two from group A and two from group B named Mukesh Yadav, Nikki Yadav, Sita Das and Hasruddin Safi were selected as group leaders. They selected their team by themselves. Access teachers played the roles of Time keeper, Scorer, and moderator. Alongwith the quiz, some students were involved in drawing competition on the theme independence. Winners of both competitions were awarded at the end of the program.

Janakpur Access Marked Martin Luther King Day

Access center Janakpur celebrated ‘Martin Luther King Day’ on January 16, 2017. At first, Access Instructor, Mr. Ranjit Kumar Jha gave presentation on the significance of Martin Luther King Day in USA. After that, the students watched a short biography video of Martin Luther King. Then students were asked to discuss and note some points about discrimination based on caste, religion in case of Nepal. The students were given three minutes time to express their views on the issue of discrimination individually. Six students shared their views. After that, students were given handouts of the famous speech ‘I have a dream’ by Martin Luther Kind, Instructor Shatrudhan Sah read the speech and explained it to the students. All the students participated actively and got information about Martin Luther King’s Jr Day as famous holiday celebration in U.S.A.

Access student sharing her views on discrimination in Nepal

Access Students in Cleanliness Campaign

On January 7, 2017, Access Centre Janakpur conducted community service. All the students, Access instructors and focal person participated actively in the program. At first, the students were asked to discuss about the importance of cleanliness and how they can keep their surroundings clean. Students discussed in groups and expressed their views. After that, the students were divided into groups and provided with masks, gloves, brooms and dustbins. The students first cleaned the surroundings of the school, the nearby road and the bazaar area. The collected waste was disposed safely. The students took cleaned the surrounding actively and were very happy to see the positive response of local people.

Janakpur Access Inauguration 

Janakpur Access Center was inaugurated formally on November 29, 2016 at a program organized at Masala Cottage, Janakpur, Dhanusha. The Chief Guest of the program was RELO US Embassy, Nepal, Mr.Russell Barcyzk who was heartily welcomed by NELTA Chair person and NELTA Janakpur branch executives with garlands and bouquets. The Immediate Past President of NELTA, Mr. Hemanta Raj Dahal, RELO specialist, US Embassy, Mr. BIshwa Raj Gautam, Deputy District Education Officer, Mr. Danikant Jha, Local Development Officer, Mr. Sant Bahadur Sunar were the special guests. The program was formally inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial panas by the Chief Guest. Mr. Dhirendra Kumar Jha,the chair person of NELTA, Janakpur ,welcomed all guests. In his remark, special guest Mr. Danikant Jha showed his concern regarding the situation of the students of community school . He expressedhis gratitude to NELTA for bringing such advantageous program that would enhance English language skills of the students from underprivileged and marginalized group.  Local Development Officer Mr. Sunar thanked the US Embassy for bringing Access program that would increase the English language skills of students and also support in their overall personality development. In his remarks, addressing the mass, Mr. Barczyk congratulated all students and wished for their bright future. At the end of the program, Chief guest awarded the students and Access teachers with the certificates of commencement. The program attended by all Janakpur Access students, their parents, Access teachers, and NELTA Janakpur Executives. Program was conducted by Access Coordinator Mr. Kunjarmani Gautam.
