Activities of Access Butwal Fourth Cohort 

Graduation Ceremony of Makawanpur Access Fourth Cohort

On August 3, 2016, graduation ceremony of Butwal Access center was held at Club De novo, Kalikanagar, Butwal in which the fourth cohort Access graduates received certificates of completion of 2 years’ Access program from chief guest RELO Russell Barczyk. District Education Officer of Rupandehi, Tek Bahadur Thapa, and District Administration Officer, Toy Narayan Aryal were among the special guests in the program. In the program, NELTA President Meera Shrestha gave vote of thanks and gave token of love to the guests. Access students Ambika Gyawali and Sujan Gyawali shared their Access experience and Access instructor Dig Bijaya Gaurab Tharu talked on behalf of the instructors. Butwal Access alumni of second cohort were also present on the occasion. After the graduation ceremony, Access alumni talked to RELO and RELO specialist about their recent alumni activities.

Butwal Access Marks Teachers’ Appreciation Week

On May 3, 2016, English Access Microscholarship Program, Butwal center marked Teacher Appreciation Week at their center. The purpose of the activity was to show gratitude to the teachers by the students. Unlike other celebrations, this event was completely planned, organized and run by the students. They honored Mr. Taranath Bhattarai, focal person for Access center Butwal along with four Access teachers with Tika and Khada. Then two Access students Mr. Sujan Gyawali and Ambika Gyawali delivered speech on the significance of teachers and showed their commitment to walk on the path shown by the teachers. Moreover, students organized ‘Watermelon eating contest’ for the teachers and awarded prizes along with greeting cards. Overall, the program was creative, expressive, informative and full of fun.

Dashain Celebrations at Access Butwal

On October 14, 2015, According to Access operation calendar, English Access Microscholarship Program, Butwal center conducted Dashain Celebration 2072. On the occasion of celebration students were assigned to prepare project work on topic “Importance of Dashain festival.” After preparing the project work they presented their work in group among friends. Some students who were not involved in group work they shared their plan; how they are going to celebrate Dashain, Tihar and Chhath.

Butwal Access observes Columbus Day

On October, 12, 2015 Butwal Access students gathered to celebrate “Columbus Day” legal federal holiday of United States of America.  First, the instructors explained about the things to be done to mark this day. Then, Students were divided into eight different groups and they were given reading task that was about Columbus Day. They discussed the given topic with the help of information and prepared some important points. Second, they presented their work turn by turn. Finally, the teachers elaborated the discovery of America by giving the information as there were Native Americans but Columbus was the First European who mistakenly thought that he had found a new route to the East in search of spices, gems, gold and other exotic goods.

Butwal Access Students Celebrates American Labor Day

On September 7, 2015, the first Monday of September, Access teachers and students were gathered at Butwal Access center for celebrating American Labor Day. Students were divided into different groups, the day before, for two different tasks; drama performance and gathering information on American Labor Day. The drama group worked on drama skit, chose characters, practiced the drama while the other group was again divided into sub groups to gather information on various topics such as the history, significance, ways of celebrations etc. related with the American Labor Day and use that information for group and individual project work. On the program day, Access student Sujan Gyawali and Ambika Gyawali came forward to conduct the program; the program included a series of activities beginning from Shova Balami’s speech on Labor Day, drama performance on the same theme, presentation of the students’ project works that included poster design, slogans, articles etc. accompanied by general knowledge questions prepared by the anchors themselves. There was an enthusiastic involvement of all the students in every activity.

Butwal Access Marks Child Health Day

On October 3, 2015, Butwal Access center marked Child Health Day at their center. Mr. Pashupati Adhikari, lecturer as well as dean of health faculty from Butwal Multiple Campus was the chief guest of the Program. He talked about the importance of having healthy behavior, maintaining personal hygiene and social hygiene. The program was really interactive; students raised many questions related to health. Ms. Keshari Rana chaired the program, Mr. Narayan Pokhrel and Ms. Yashukala Pandey were the guests and Mr. Digbijay Gaurab Tharu conducted the program. Access student Mr. Sujan Gyawali gave speech representing the students. Chairperson concluded the program thanking to the chief guest and giving more suggestion on health to the students.

Go Green – Plantation as Part of Community Service

Butwal Access students were involved in plantation as a part of Community Service. On July 25, 2015, Butwal Access Students, in collaboration with International Innerwheel Club and RIMS Nepal, planted varieties of plants on the grounds of ‘Bishwo Sukha Shanti Monastery’ at Tilotama Municipality, Rupandehi. For the plantation program, consent was taken beforehand from the concerned authority and local people. Access students thoroughly enjoyed this experience of plantation program; they learned a lot about the importance of plantation and developed a caring for the silent creatures which could be seen in the way they handled the seedlings while planting. This type of program is really important to motivate these young minds to adopt environment friendly behavior.

Father’s Day Celebration in Access Family

On June 15, 2015, Butwal Access family celebrated Father’s Day organizing an Elocution competition on the topic ‘Role of Father’. At first, the teachers highlighted on the day’s program. As soon as the students had decorated the board, the Elocution competition started. Almost all students took part in the competition and shared their opinions about the significant role of a father in the family relating with their own real life situations. Finally teachers also expressed their feelings on the same line. Besides the obvious benefit of elocution competition in strengthening language skill and building confidence, this particular exchange has helped teachers and students to be familiar with each other at a more personal level and have more intimate bonding with each other.

English Access Students Participate in Labor Day Celebration.

 On Monday, September 1, 2014, Access students and teachers gathered at Access center to organize labour day.  At first Mr. Digbijay Gaurab Tharu put brief description about the history of Labor Day. Then Ms. Yashy Pandey talked the importance of Labor Day celebration. Like-wise Mr. Narayan Pokhrel talked the purpose of celebration. The students were divided into 10 different groups. They were given hand outs regarding Labor Day and related slogans. Then students prepared the slogan in chart paper. Mr. Taranath Bhattari joined the program; he put brief speech on the importance of Labor Day celebration. Students explained the slogan that they had written in chart paper in group.

English Access Students’ participate in Eid Celebration 
On August 9, 2013, all the 40 Access students of both groups along with Access instructors reached the Access classroom at 4 P.M. for observing Muslim’s great festival Eid. Students designed greeting cards and decorated the classroom. On the very occasion, the Muslim priest Mr. Mohammad Ishaq was invited to make the students familiar with the importance of Eid and its religious practice. He even highlighted the activities performed during Eid like how to greet and hug each other expressing an honor. The students handed the greeting cards over to the guest and to the Access student, Amir Hussain, who is the only Muslim student from the Access class. On top of that, all the participants tasted the religious dish ‘Sewai’. Finally they hugged each other, wished and enjoyed singing and dancing joyfully.

English Access students visit Senior Citizens’ Home 

On March 09, 2013, Access Butwal Center organized an out- door program as a part of a regular enhancement activity where all 40 Access students along with the teachers and focal person visited ‘Siddhababa Durga Bhawani Shivkumari Saiju Elders Home’, an organization that is run by the charity and the donation of generous donors at Tallo Fulbari, Butwal. With required preparation, the Access family reached the venue on stipulated time. The students cleaned up the periphery of the senior citizens’ home. Then they reflected on the purpose of the visit. The manager of the senior citizens’ home, Mr. Krishna Reshmi provided information about the establishment of the home along with its system of enrollment along with other information about the capacity of 16 senior citizens above 75 years who get enrolled there free of cost. Access students’ visit to the Senior Citizens’ Home helped them become much more responsible towards elderly people in the society while being become aware of community service. Access students also distributed small gift packs to the senior citizen with honor. They shared their feelings and opinions with senior citizens and the students also listened to some stories from the senior citizens. Finally, the students were blessed by the senior citizens.Currently, there are 40 students and 4 teachers in this center. The venue is New Horizon Higher Secondary School, Butwal Municipality, Butwal, Rupandehi, Nepal.
