Field Trip and Community Service

Gulmi Access visited an elderly house at Ridi and explored some beautiful historical and cultural sites on the way on June 23, 2018. Access students and teachers departed from Access Center at 7:20 am and reached Ridi at 9:15 am. There they had breakfast and they explored some beatutiful sites. At first, they went to the Argali Darbar, which is a historical palace made by Judhashamsher Rana and now turned into a Primary School. Then, students visited an old ‘Paincho Pasal’ where people exchange stuffs, it had some really antique materials that the students were surprised to see. From there, all walked through a mango plantation, students were really amazed to see mango trees with hundreds of mangoes on it. Then, students paid a visit to Rishikesh Temple, gathered some information about the temple and finally went on to see the elderly home nearby. Focal person of Gulmi Access Mr. Krishna Prasad Marasini and Treasurer Mr. Bal Singh Khatri were with the students and teachers while distributing fruits and other eatables at the elderly home. Students interacted with the elderly people for a while, asking about their life experience and their family background. From there, all got on bus and on the way back all went on to see the Ridi Khola small hydropower plant for a while. Back in Tamghas, Access students went to the Ruru FM station and few of them shared their Access experience in the ‘Ruru Talk Time Program’ run by NELA Gulmi executive member Mr. Bishnu Prasad Bhandari.

Earth Day Celebration

On April 22, 2018, Access Center Gulmi celebrated World Earth Day by organizing different programs among the students. The program was planned and conducted by Access students themselves. Access student, Madhav Parajuli became the chairperson, Nirmala Acharya and Sagar Thapa became the MC of the program. They honored Access Instructors as the chief guests. Students have prepared different activities, Access students Nikesh Kunwar and Shristi gave welcome speech.  Roshani and Bhuwan Pandey presented their PowerPoint presentation on “Let’s protect the Earth our home”. The message of the presentation was to save our land, our Earth. They presented that if we don’t care about the Earth in few years it will be the dumping site and they suggested to create awareness program to conserve the Earth. Students Binita, Ram, Nikesh, Dipesh, Anita presented 10 minutes drama on ‘how to conserve our Earth’s resources’. Isha Sunar presented her dance and entertained all. Program chair Madhav Parajuli concluded the program by expressing his views to make earth green again.

Gulmi Access Conducts Community Service cum Get Together

On November 25, 2017 Gulmi Access Centre organized a get together program with community service at Sakhina Dada which is 2 km far away from Tamghas. There was the presence of NELTA executives, District Education Officer, Resource Person, school supervisors Access students and Instructors. Secretary of NELTA Dor Bikram Shress conducted the formal program, focal person Krishna Prasad Marasini was the chair of the program. Access Instructor Sarswati Bhandari welcomed the chief guest, guests by highlighting Access Microscholarship Program which is coordinated by NELTA. District Education Officer Tikaram Sharma talked positively about the Access program wished for the continuity of this program in Gulmi. After the formal program the students and instructors cleaned the picnic spot, Sakhine Dada. Later on students observed the natural beauty around there and had a lot of fun.

Gulmi Access Conducts Plantation in Coordination with DFO

On July 15, 2017, all the Access students and instructors of Access Center Gulmi organized a plantation program. The plantation was done in a proposed ‘Children’s Park’ at Resunga Municipality – 9. The program was organized in coordination with District Forest Office, Gulmi. At first, NELTA Gulmi contacted DFO, Gulmi, took permission and invited the District Forest Officer of Gulmi  Bishal Ghimire in the program. At 7:30 in the morning all were gathered at the Access Center, and they all headed towards the plantation area. Along the way, hundreds of saplings were collected from a nursery for plantation, those saplings were provided by the District Forest Office. As students and teachers arrived at the proposed children’s park, the District Forest Officer talked to students about importation of greenery, the significance of various plants that they had brought for plantation. The plantation program was inaugurated by the planting of Cherry tree by the District Forest Officer. After that, all students and teachers planted different plants according to the instruction and had a glance at undergoing activities around the park.

Celebrating International Women’s Day

On March 8, 2017 Gulmi Access Center celebrated International Women’s Day in the presence of forty students and Access instructors. Students watched the inspirational video of Malala Yousafzai and the history of women’s right movement. Students were told to discuss about the importance of women’s right and what role they can play to bring out changes in the society. Students discussed on the topic ” Women’s right and their position in Nepal”. Bhuwan Pandey, Nirmala Acharya and Manju Lopchan spoke on the issue. Then students were asked to draw pictures related to the women’s day, women’s positions in the society. Students presented their drawings in front of the class and explained what that drawing meant for them.

Gulmi Access Conducts Sanitation Campaign

On February 11, 2017, all the Access students and instructors of Access Center Gulmi accomplished the task of Community Service organizing a sanitation campaign in and around the religious and historical site: Resunga. Access students and teachers gathered at Access Center early in the morning and headed towards Resunga. They walked for about an hour, while walking they collected papers and plastics on the way. On reaching the holy Resunga pond, at first student had lunch and then, they cleaned the pond which had been covered with plastics and leaves. From there, students walked to Shidhababa temple and tower, they also cleaned around the temple area, pasted posters that requested people not to litter around the temple area. After cleaning the temple area, student walked towards the Access Center via a different route and collected plastics and papers on the way. Students disposed the waste safely. It was a hard day’s work for the student, but they all participated energetically and at the end, shared their happiness in serving the community.

Marking of Human Right’s Day at Gulmi Access

On December 10, 2016, Gulmi Access Center marked International Human Right’s day in the presence of all the students and Access Instructors. To mark the occasion, they held a discussion on Human Rights. Then the students were shown video clips and photographs about Human Rights, it’s importance, and present situation in Nepal and in the world. After that they were given a group work based on the Human Rights. On which they made different drawings covering the Human Rights, Human Right’s violation and the protection of Human Rights. They also explained the drawings. At last they presented their group work turn by turn.

Inauguration of Gulmi Access Center

On November 26, 2016, the students of Gulmi Access center sixth cohort received commencement certificate of English Access Microscholarship Program in an inaugural ceremony organized at Balmandir Hall, Tamghas, Gulmi . The Chief Guest of the program was Regional English Language officer Russell Barczyk who was welcomed heartily by NELTA Gulmi branch executives. Main guests in the program were RELO Specialist Mr. Bishwa Raj Gautam and representative from Gulmi District Education office Mr. Bishnu Prasad Gnawali. The program was formally inaugurated by lighting six ceremonial candles as six letters in the word ‘ACCESS’ by RELO Mr. Russel Barczyk, RELO specialist Mr. Bishwa Raj Gautam ,headmaster from a host school Mr.Keshar Bahadur Thapa, school supervisor Mr. Bishnu Prasad Gnawali, guardian Krishna Nepali and an Access student Mr. Babul Reshmi. Access Focal Person of Gulmi Access center Mr. Krishna Prasad Marasini welcomed the guests and participants. In his remarks addressing the crowd, Mr. Russell Barczyk encouraged Access students to take maximum benefit of the resources of the Access program and wished for their better future. At the end of the program, RELO Mr. Russel Barczyk awarded the students and teachers with the certificates of commencement. The program was attended by Access students of sixth cohort Gulmi and their parents and Gulmi Access instructors.
